The Meteorological Department has stated that the cyclonic storm Mocha formed in the Bay of Bengal is unlikely to have a major impact on West Bengal.

The storm is expected to hit Bangladesh and Myanmar with the possibility of heavy loss of life and property. Despite this, the coastal areas of West Bengal, especially Digha, may receive rainfall and strong thunderstorms.

In order to prevent loss of life and property, eight teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Digha.

The storm is expected to hit Bangladesh's Cox's Bazar and Sittwe in Myanmar on May 14 with a thunderstorm moving at a speed of about 150 to 175 kilometers per hour.
